So I'm a gamer and just hosted a minecraft server, also got a webiste hosting package and domain name. I have no clue what to do next. All the free online web design and template sights that I have checked out offer so nice easy drag and drop customization, but they all only let me host with them. So my question is...is there a site I can make a simple, easy to create web page that I can then load to my host? I'm not above even paying a one time fee to make it...I'm just having no luck thus far. Thanx in advance ;-)

The free ones are there to make money either by advertising or by becoming a premium member.
Templates of all types are available, you just have to gain a knowledge as to how to use them. The same goes for your server, it must be setup properly.
You didn't state what your web page purpose is; stating your presence, member login, blog or whatever. It helps with the planning for now and down the road.
Most people will take a template that is close to what they want/like, then add their own content and change the graphics keeping the over-all template coding intact which starts them on the path of what's involved.
Others find there is an enormous amount of work setting up and maintaining things they just hire someone.

Well as I said it would be a minecraft community site, with forums, gallery, log in node, and possibly a paypal donate button. I am happy to use a template and have found a few I like, my favorite is http://www.zasprexstudios.com/gaming/hdmine.php
but my understanding is its in joomla which I installed on the server but it wont let me install that template. My hopes were that once installed I could edit the details to fit my needs.

I don't see any indication that it is a Joomla! template or even if it runs on some platform, just your basic css style template or it is not compatible with the version Joomla! you installed.
The site in your link though is running on a Joomla!.
If you break the template down into it's parts as shown in red, I'm sure you can find this basic layout in a Joomla! written template. Then all you have to do is change some colors and add your own Text, Graphics and Extensions which are extra features that aren't available in Joomla! by default.
If you really want that template, it can be coded for Joomla!. Check with the author.

I would like to use the template, but certainly doesnt have to be joomla....I did a search for joomla minecraft templates and found this, guess I assumed it was coded for joomla.... is there any indication what it is coded for and how I could use it/edit it?

Based on your statement in the first post "I have no clue what to do next." and your requirements " forums, gallery, log in mode, and possibly a paypal donate button" all of which takes a good bit of knowledge, I'll suggest again, contact the author. I told you what I thought it was in post #4.

To start: What HTML Editor are you using ? and what photo editor ? HTML and CSS Editors are used to build or edit websites (also CMS - Content Management Systems - TomW can help here). The template can be modified (if necessary) to be used on Joomla.
There are many 'free' HTML/CSS editors and free photo editors on the internet. Try some and use the one you like best.
Also they have help files and/or tutorials on how to use them building or editing a web page.

    hope this helps

It's easy to do it on your localhost. Try using WAMP server. And learn how to use it. And check out some tutorials.
Now when you installed Wamp server you can download Joomla or WordPress and put it in your C:\wamp\www directory.
Use a browser and write in address localhost. Instal now all you got to do is get a template and put it in your new create directory. Voila one more thing before that make a db in phpmyadmin.
