I have downloaded my first template today. I have managed to get it into the Dreamweaver site where I want to work on it BUT;

When I view in internet explorer from Dreamweaver it loses all the table formatting and although all pictures and text are visible they are shown in a vertical format. i.e. just as a long list.

I am using windows Vista but with an oldish version of Dreamweaver MX. Could that be my problem?

I dont have a www address yet for my site and am building it on my local C drive.

I am also new to forums and so any help (Noddy's guide format please), tips or links would be appreciated.

Kind of sounds like your missing your .css file or that your main page is not linked to it.

In your zipped folder, i think there should of been a styles.css file. You can link a css doc by:

    1. Top right hand side you should see a tab labeled "Design".
    Choose css styles tab.

(If tab not there, go to window on the navigation menu at the very top between site and help. Then choose CSS Styles or shift + F11)

    2. Next click the very first icon. If you roll your mouse over it, it will say "Attach Style Sheet".

    3. Choose Browse and find your .css sheet and hit ok.

    4. Save your index file and you should be good to go.

If this don't work, let me know which template your talking about.

    Thanks but that didn't work

Thanks for your help.:D It hasn't made any difference unfortunately though.

I have attached a screen shot of the what my Dreamweaver looks like so that hopefully you can see that the index page is linked to the style.css sheet.

Its the gaming template. If you can think of anything else that I have got wrong I would appreciate your opinion.

PS. The reason that I though it may be a Vista compatibility problem with my version of Dreamweaver is because when I created a website from scratch I had problems with inserting tables and had to design the page in layout view and keep inseting layout cells to form a table.

I just downloaded it and it worked fine for me. I recomend redownloading it and starting over. Also i don't know what that "index" is doing there in your styles pallett. I beleve there should only be styles.css .Hope this helps.

    No Joy

    Thanks again.
I still have the same problem with other templates that I have tried to download and so I am pretty sure its the Dreamweaver MX/ Vista conflict. I have spoken to someone at Adobe and have sent for an upgrade to CS3. I was told that this should solve it. If not I may be back.
