I suppose with photoshop, anything is possible.
Although I have seen others attempt to re-colour dark painted cars to white with the final result looked pretty sad.

Doesn't mean it can't be done. I just don't know how.

    Anyone else?

Thanks CovertPea. Yeah I don't know anything about photoshop. I'm hoping someone can help. I'd like to use this for an advertisement but I need the car white.

Maybe you can select the black parts using select tools and than invert the colors for this selection?

Doing it this way leaves you with an ugly, washed out grey/white finish.

Can't you find a white mustang of that model online?

ok i seen this post and thought it would be a really good challenge and this is what i've ended up with....lol :p:rolleyes::eek:..best way would be as covert said find the same car but in the colour white...it can be done with photoshop but you're gonna have to find someone who knows photoshop inside and out because this was hard and look how it's turned out but so you get the image that this is what happens when you do any of the above that are mentioned

    There was a point!
You took on a challenge and you found what doesn't work! :D
Remember GG that all the so-called 'professional photoshoppers' out there learned most of their stuff from challenges?

    It's quite a challenge though isn't it?

I'de love to see to see someone get it properly and make it look as if it wasn't even edited :D

Ishkey just a quick thought but using the marquee tool around the wheel try to bevel it? so it can stick out and also around the front of the car using the burn tool darken the parts where it's suppose to be dark..maybe that could do it?

    Thats an good idea.
I started out making a mask, removing everything but the car body.
    Painted white
Copied the layer an set it to screen.
Duplicated it several times setting the opacity lower each time to bring up the white.
Changed the mask in several layers for door lines and such too allow bleed through.
I take your ideas and play with it later.

    Top job there Dave.
Seriously, you could write a tutorial for this (black car to white) and post it on one of the well known photoshop sites!
That's the first I've seen that looks like a proper paint job.

Why thanks guys - if I ever get a new pen tab and stop using the mouse maybe I will.
I know it could be refined more but for me that's not too bad. Just wonder where Kevin is going to use it, cause I would change the background.

You meant Xara Xtreme Pro 5, didn't you?
I was to have used Photoshop - you didn't tell me that before I started.
Now I got to do it all over again or maybe export my file as a psd!
I think I'll check into that.
