There may not be much of a problem. Log into your account provided by 123-reg.co.uk and find a link that will let you set the Nameservers (Manage DNS). Click on that link and you may show a page like this:

I want to park my domains
I want to forward my domains
I have hosting account with these domains
I have specific nameservers for my domains

Select the last item and enter this:

    NameServer1: ns1-r1-dallas.webserversystems.com
    NameServer2: ns2-r1-dallas.webserversystems.com

Save your input and wait for it to get updated. This may take a few moments to couple hours.

See, it's not that hard right? As you can see I have already installed w-CMS and a site was created during the installation. Next select the templates you want to use by using this program

    dnload.php

Select Free Website Template for the Designer and click Go and a list of templates from this site will be shown. Select the one you want and click on Download and the template with all the associated files will be downloaded and you can now add it into the Themes list where you can select for the site layout.

This might be a bit confuse to you now so you can just let me know which template you want to use and I will set it up for you.

    Template not listed

Hi tomw, i've just followed your instructions but when i get the drop down the template i want is not listed! It's one from the home page of FWT on page 2, but it says something about it being from WIX. Does this mean i can't use it?

If I’m not mistaken, the template you wish to use is this one.

That template is based on flash and it is free to use but you have to sign up with WIX in order to use it. There are some suggestions not to build a flash based website so you may have to look into this before you decide to build one.

If you decided to use it I can convert it into theme for you.

What would be these suggestions to not use flash? Apart from it won't work on iPhones! As I just found out when I tried to look at them while at work!! I think I understand what flash is, in my novice terms I think flash enables moving pictures and stuff, am I right? I'm not that fussed about moving things I just like the layout of the page. I looked at the one on page 9 and thought twice about it because it was what I think is flash!

I think this article explains it quite well:

5 Reasons Not To Use Flash | Search Engine Journal

    Of course not everyone agrees.

The website design may not be as important as what you got to showcase. With all those nice photos people may not be aware of the template you use.

WIX is a Free service that has advertisments on it or you can upgrade for a cost. You might as well open a free account with them and set up a site there also (more exposure). Contrary to what they say, a site on wix doesn't rank to well in the search engines.

Since you now own your own domain aephotography.org.uk you need some where to host it with a website, if you are not going to host it with your domain registrar that is where tomw comes into play.

There are domain registrars which just register your name and there are Hosts which can reg the name and host your site. A host is just like your own pc in cyberspace.
You pay a price for both.

Some people have there own host with a website and a facebook page and a twitter page and a free wordpress site and a free wix site and a, well you get the idea.
Heck you are already on Flicker, so the more you are out there the more exposure.

    Just do both.

His domain is already hosted by me and I have installed w-CMS where he can show his photos in Popup and Slider.

What I would like to do next is set up the site with a template chosen from here but I think those templates by WIX got his attention. I was trying to point out that flash template may not be a good idea so I made that comment.

    My 2p worth (if allowed)

Flash does look good when working properly, but with what tomw has done (again forgive me if wrong) has given the best of both worlds, the main point is to get the great photos out there.

    Let the photo's talk!!

tomw loving what you have done already!!!
IMPO I would like to see the albums in catogories (Sliders) then pop ups after that (is this pos tom?

Heck listen to me as if it was my site; pls forgive

Good insight there Ishkey for us no idea'rs

Flash indeed looks nice I think that is why so many sites are using it. However, it does take up a lot of bandwidth as evidenced by “Loading in Progress” when visiting many of those sites; also Mr. Ishkey has pointed out that it does not rank well in search engines. My hosting plan is shared by many users and if you want your site to rank well by the search engines I would suggest strongly not to use flash.

Thanks again Forest for the compliment. Any presentation method you like for showing the photos in the album can be done. If it is not available in the Core module now it can be included by adding a function as an add-on module.

Say, do you have a website? If not I can set up one for you just like the one I’m doing now. All you have to do is to register a domain name.

I wonder if my 2 cents worth the same as your 2p :D

Hi all, sorry it took a while for me to join in! I really appreciate all your input as like i've said, i'm such a dummy when it comes to all this stuff! I'm not really fussed about flash, i just really like the layout of that site though. I like the clean cut design with the tabs (links?) along the top line and the part i like the most is the fact you can display a gret big shot as a background, ie the frog!! You are right, let the photo's do the talking which is why i really want to be able to display a striking shot as soon as you open the page. Is it possible to get a site design like that one but not flash?? Sorry to be a pain but i really do appreciate everyones time and effort.

We all started as dummy but if you work hard at it, in no time at all people will start calling you guru.

To move this project forward, I need you to select a template to use for your site. You can keep the one there now or select one from FWT but not from anyone of those sponsor templates such as WIX. You will see that the template selected can be easily modified but required some graphic knowledge. There are quite a few members who are expert in this area. I myself start learning about graphic recently using Gimp, an image manipulation program. This is a very complicated program if you have no prior knowledge of graphic so you need to have patient. Here is an example of a site I did with this template:

    Media

As you can see, there is a spelling error (knowledge). It took me two days to find out how to correct that image. Here is the updated page:

    http://thelowellschool.com/?site=media

I did not like the layout of the menu items and I want to expand the body size a bit so I made further changes and this is the final look:

    http://thelowellschool.com/?site=media4

Although this took me couple of week to learn how to do it but now that I know the basic; if I need more changes most likely I could do it easily.

So once you selected a template, you next step would be something like what I did above.

Hi tomw, you mentioned in a preivious post that if i really wanted the template from wix you could convert it to template. Is that still possible?

I selected this template for the site’s layout and I modified some sections so that it will be easier for you to make changes. For example, the image in the Welcome section is replaced with text so that the title is now changeable.

I will take a good at that template again and let you know how easy it is to convert.

Thanks tomw,i feel like i'm being a real pain but the idea of having nearly a full page picture with tabs etc over the top is really appealing to me. I want to put a great shot on the front page to give the wow factor as soon as you log on.
