Hello folks, new member. I have a small problem, and figured this is where to go. I am an owner of a home service company, check it out here www .sandcastlehomewatch .com and I am using godaddy.com for my hosting. Anywho, as you can see my website is just okay, but I want it to be more then okay, if you know what I mean. I have been looking at templates and the one I want to try is https://freewebsitetemplates.com/preview/architecture2/

I downloaded the file and installed and unzipped First Page 2006. Now, im pretty much lost there. I got first page to open a page, through the, index? Not sure if I am right, but it looks NOTHING like the template. Any help would be appreciated. I am not an idiot and I am some what knowledgeable since I made this far, lol.

Frst Page is somewhat dated but should still work, you can always use notepad which comes with most pc's, it's a basic editor.
A better Free Software to use is Alleycode HTML Editor (look at the bottom left of their page for download) it is up to, todays coding standards, more powerful, and easier to use.
You might want to take a look at the sticky posts in this Forum for inspiration.
Make sure you load the "index.html file" to edit.

"but it looks NOTHING like the template"
Looks ok on this end, the template is just fine. Sounds like maybe you might have loaded the "css" file.

Alley code says its not recommended for Vista...I am using Vista on this computer. My laptop is X7, but would much rather use my desktop for work like this...

Your right that is what it states
    Alleycode HTML Editor 2.21 ...
    System Requirements
    Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/XP/X7
    Not recommended on Vista
    16MB HD

I just downloaded the new version above on a Vista PC - ran through all the editing - No Problems. Must be some small glitch that may or may not show up.

Were you before, editing the "index.html file"?
    Trying to understand your problem.

Hello and welcome to FWT. If you’re interested in using a CMS (Content Management System) I can help you out. I’m currently development a CMS in which you can use to create a website using that template. Please take a look at this thread for more info.

You may also provide ishkey more info so that he might understand your problem better and help you out further.

I looked at the site. It looks a little wide. What size were you designing for ?
