General help on some codes

I am trying to build a website for my fashion line. I do know basic html and a little css. I usually just cut and paste and edit existing sites that i like to make my own but i want to try and build mine from scratch.

Are there any useful things I should know?

And, does anyone know like the code thats kind of like a randomizer you put a bunch of files in the code and it randomly shows one every time you refresh.
