By adding information to your site about something related to it with keywords
to direct to the affiliate, you can get income to add to your adsense. This helps.
Also adsense drops the farther you are from 1st page, 1st three positions (I know
by experience). That is why the fight for Google 1st page 1st three (3) positions.

To check your computers cpu heat you need some free software that monitors
the computer's heat

everybody should check their computer heat regularily (at least monthly)
and clean the dirt and dust from the inside once every 6 mos (blow it out
with low pressure air) then the computer will run cooler.

The reason for the heat thing is my old computer (Compaq 7000 series
and Compaq 5000 series) was replaced by a new computer that has
marginal cooling and I am looking for a new cooler that will replace
the original cooler and my sons new laptop fried with inadequate cooling
so this should help someone and show TomW how to add affiliates to
his site.
TomW also check out "newegg" for an affiliate for computer hardware
as they have good prices.

How is your site progressing and Google Adsense or Affiliate advertising.
You can use Google analytics (and other analytics - such as GoStats) to check your site and record the weekly progress to give you information on where and how to improve.
Free Heatmaps are a great help (shows you where the visitors click).
You need to track keywords to improve general traffic and add fresh information to attract repeated visitors.
An 'Opt-in' (email to inform visitors when you add fresh content) email will help improve repeated traffic. Articles in eZines (electronic magazines) will attract new visitors.
Need help in incorporating these, we will help. There is some 'free software' to help write, correct, use good keywords, and check grammar for writing articles. As you use the software and write articles for review (we will review them) you will get better at it and the articles with links to your site (as ishkey says) are worth their weight in 'gold.
As your site improves in SEO and SEM (marketing) you will be an inspiration for other members (or visitors) to use this forum to improve their site.

Your index page needs good position, also your other pages need to be optimized for good position
(improves traffic and conversions-
If I can do it, you can do better. You can get a lot of help, then write how you did it for an article.
Improving position, traffic and conversions are three separate subjects. Then the software you used and how to use it is another subject. Your main topic is CMS. Check other sites on CMS and articles, then adapt them for your site.
