Ready Help revamping logo

Howdy! I HAVE a logo currently. I love it, but need to change things over. I have GIMP that I use regularly, but I don't have the SKILLS to make things pretty. Give a 5 year old a pencil and they'll make something nicer....

I also have the original file, which isn't large enough for use on banners and such. I'll send to whoever feels like helping! (EDIT: Except I just uploaded it. Link is posted below!)

IT IS BARREN!! I am currently doing a complete changeover, so options are open.

Logo may be used with both light and dark backgrounds for various uses.

3) Description of your website or business:
Information and sales site for reptiles and supplies.

4) Search the Internet for any logos/designs on the web that you feel convey
the style you are looking for?
The Snapdragonz logo on my page is a start. I like the lizard as the "S" and would like to keep that, but changes are welcome to be made.

The page itself I would like to be rather simple, but I like that little spike of "pizzazz" somewhere on it, which is where I'd like the logo to come in. Something appeasing, eye catching, flowing and swirly. Girly or tribal. Both appease me!

I'm certainly open on this. I especially love text incorporated into an image, or vice versa.

8) What colors do you want to see in your logo?
Green. Other colors are ok, but for simplicity would prefer green, black and white (makes t-shirt and other printing easier if I ever go that direction).

9) What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo?
Easy to please.

10) Describe the target audience for your logo
While I do have some younger customer in the 10-18 year old range, my most common customers are mid 20s and 30s. Funky, but not over the top.

11) What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?
Fun, Easy, reliable? ( That's a hard one!)

12) Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?
Web applications, printed forms, receipts, smaller posters, business cards, eventually would like to see it on larger posters and table banners.

13) Do you have other info or links you want to share?
Can't think of anything!

14) Finally we need is there a style font you prefer, please let us know.

He's cute! Buuut.... I think a little TOO cute.... (SORRY!!!!). Can we make it a little more grown up? (And by "we" I really mean "you" because the time I tried to design my own my sister thought I had let one of the nieces or nephews draw it for me. I'm a decent drawer. But not when it comes to logo design....)

 

The lizard is much better. I'm not really sold on the font though. .. (Sorry if I'm picky! !)

I do like the lizard the was originally designed for me but unfortunately I can't use it for larger projects. So maybe it's simply time for him to retire.

HOLY CRAP I'm slow. I just realized they have a custom preview. So instead of GUESSING what "SnapDragonz" will look like I can see it. HA!

The OZH font is too hard to read, and the Fancy Pens makes me feel drunk. But I like Nemo.

i'll go through some others this morning and do some more edumicated researching.

I think I also located one of my photo disks, so I can post some of those up. I'm not a PRO photographer, but like doing it and have taken some neat shots.

 

Brain is in overdrive now.

The origin of SnapDragonz was actually inspired by an art project in high school. We had to morph one object into another in a series of photos. I've attached that project for you to see. A bad picture of it, anyways. I didn't use a snapdragon for a flower, but this is what gave me the idea....

I think that's what I'd REALLY like. To see a snapdragon flower incorporated with a dragon. At least the head and a tongue flick. Perhaps even wings and/or a tail swoosh....

Not sure if anyone here has the skills to do that manipulation, but if you do OMG you'd make me happy! I can probably draw one, but making it clean and logo-worthy is likely beyond me. (I should note here that I haven't actually DRAWN in.... 5 or so years. I miss it. But I do have a brand new sketch pad and pencils for that day I wanted to pick it up again! Mayhaps that day is today....if I have time after making gummies for the husband and muffins for breakfast tomorrow.... life's rough around here. Let me tell you.)

 

I tied my husband up and sat on him and forced him to help me narrow down my fonts. We've both agreed on this one:

(My husband gives great approval with words that are likely not forum approved).

Can I might one other little request? Can he have a tongue hanging out? Can be long or shorter or curled or not. But definitely with the snakey like definition, like this guy:

K, just looking at the font and I think the font and the dragon might come from different worlds. If I'm asking too much here please tell me -- I won't take offense in the slightest. I know this stuff takes time!!

so I think the dragon needs to be "girlied up" a little. I'll do what I can to show you what I mean and what I see. Will post when I'm done. (SO SORRY if I seem over picky. Just want to get it right. Getting things printed is expensive!)

 

Oi. I apologize so, so hard for my "skills". I think I demolished your creation, but hopefully it kind of gives you an idea of what's in my head....

Because the font is chunky but has very fine, flowy bits I think the dragon would be excellent to follow suit.

so the wing tips, tail tip and "finger" tips I figure would be very smooth and fine, maybe with a bit of curl at the ends of some. I took out the spines, but maybe if they were small and fine they'd suit the font better. I figure the end of the tail and the tongue tip could be similar in style to the bottom of the "G" in the font.
