This is my first "posting" to this forum. I gave a couple reviews in hopes to create a reciprocal response with others here I am presenting my speculative literary magazine website for your review in hopes I can improve traffic to the website and continue to increase our professional edge in the competitive market of "online magazines." All thoughts and comments appreciated!

Hello Revive This,

Your website looks just the way I like my websites---simple and effective. The only thing that was a little distracting for me was how random the image of the drop of waters of water beneath your header was. Perhaps an image of a quill or ink would serve your purpose better? Oh and I thought it might be a good idea to open your PDF links in new windows so your visitor doesn't just close the PDF and leaves your website forever once he's done reading the PDF.

What do you think?

 

I agree with Ruthe about the water drops...something like an inkwell with a quill - or better, a closeup of a desk with papers, glasses, quill, etc. - something like that. It has to say "literary" - water drops suggest nature or outdoors.

100% - no 1000% agree with Ruthe on opening PDF in a new window. Definitely make that a priority!

On the whole, it's nicely done. You've added some texture in the outer areas of the site (something I am picky about), and the left nav menus are just where I would expect them.

Well done!

 

Maybe its just me, but I find the blue text in the categories on the right of the site a little hard to read. Because of the color or font I cannot tell.
The only other thing is the black backround of the title. It seems a little mismatched, maybe if it was a little shortened to encompass only the text and not be prolonged over the artowrk that is beneath it could look better?

Other than that, great job.
