News of Yahoo! closing Altavista, MyblogLog, Traffic APIs, Yahoo! Bookmarks, Yahoo! Buzz, Yahoo! Picks and perhaps other services not mentioned by Y! staff or insiders of the tech worlds surfaced in mid December 2010 and spread like an out of control wildfire.

This information is easily found in an online search.

I caught wind of it myself simply as a yahoo! user. It was in the air so to speak. Personally, I like yahoo but for some unbeknown reason I've never seriously put into use nor applied all of their service products, although the possibilities have been entertained.

I'm a user of delicious, email, had a fairly small/quiet stint on, geocities, 360, unspoken in groups. answers, yahoo! mash, made use of rss feeds, pipes, alerts, and few others are, about as far as I've gone to date.

I joined MyBlogBog, remained absent/silent for awhile then decided to check it out. I noticed the variety of users as many services acquire over time and popularity. In my opinion MBL is good for introducing new, semi pro and pro bloggers or what ever type of online presence you have however, when facts are measured, MBL has limits as others do.

I must say I doubt the painstaking decisions of cuts will be reversed.

In efforts to keep those services desired by users up and running, whether auctioned off, sold, or kept by Yahoo!, some bloggers have started speaking out.

Yahoo bookmarks never made any sense to me. They started if AFTER buying delicious.

    Yahoo:
Buys popular social bookmarking site, runs it into ground. Funds weaker competing service, closes it.

Understood, yet, amongst the legalities, each have different names and different functions which separates them and the communities. I didn't care much for yahoo bookmarks either. Yahoo has been a major player and still has some measure of importance regardless.
