    Hello all,

Setting up my first DJ website/name and general business so would like to obtain some help please on the logo.
I am a mobile DJ that DJ's for small parties upto 300 people, with a mixture of South Asian and RnB music.
I have tried to answer the questions as per another post below as best as poss, so would appreciate any help

    Many Thanks :)

    1) What is the exact name you would like in your logo?

    SD Sounds

    2) What is your website address (ex: http://site.com ; Site Name)?
Afraid I havent set up my website yet - playing around with a few trial sites at the moment.... I dont think I require the web address to be in logo for now, and website colours will most likely be a backdrop of black.

    3) Description of your website or business:
    Mobile DJ

    4) Have you found any logos/designs on the web that you feel convey
the style you are looking for?

Nothing in particular - I guess I would like the usual headphones to surround my logo. I dont DJ vinyl and moving away from CD to more digital DJ'ing, so maybe some form of style around that theme?

    5) Requested size of your logo:

I would like to use the logo on the site but also to be printed on business cards and a banner - so not sure what size I would need accordingly?

    6) Do you have any images/photos that can be used for the logo? (must be copyright free)
    N/A

    7) What logo styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)?

I think the SD sounds with headphones or some other digital dj'ing would be good.
I think I would prefer vibrant colours, or something that stands out in a slick, modern way

    8) What colors do you want to see in your logo?

Quite like black and red, or maybe black and blue, or even yellow but happy with other colours if it stands out

    9) What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo?

    Green,

    10) Describe the target audience for your logo

Wide range of audience, mainly adults as they will access the site and book accordingly.

    11) What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?

    - Easy to see my company name
    - Eye catching
    - Welcoming and approachable

    12) Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?

    - Website, Business cards, and banner to cover the DJ table

    13) Do you have other info or links you want to share?

    Nothing right now

    Many thanks with this

    SounDs

Just a split second idea I thought of, maybe a big thick SD initials making up a circle.

Inside the letters S and D an image of a vinyl, the SD would act like a window so to speak.

Then in small lettering around the SD the word SounDs repeated over and over with a capital S and D.

    ?

an idea is about as far as I can go but im sure theres someone who can help you here.

    Oh and welcome btw.

Ahhh that sounds interesting - I was trying to play with overlapping or making use of the fact that the letters S and D, were part of the first and second word....... your concept sounds interesting

    Thank you......

Great idea PhotoXe. Well done I kind of have the image in my head from your description. Not sure if it correct but I'll give it a go (very busy at the moment so I'll try in a day) but I like the idea though :)

Also @WebsiteNewbie please feel free to help out elsewhere within the forum by possibly giving a website review? Or wherever your skills can be applied and you may notice you'll receive more help in doing so ;)

    Thank you

Yes that is kind of what I ment GG, the only part missed out was that the SD would make a perfect circle like a yingyang so to speak. The word sounDs around the circle would need to be with a capital S and D like 'SounDs' and the vinyl image more clear.

Listen to me going on lol, its not my request, WEBSITENEWBIE where are you.

Both you and Forest kinda got it right together, maybe Ishkey could find a way to merge both of you for future logo creation :D

    lol Ishkey,

The Headphones is a cool idea and yes it makes sense using lazer CD if your not a vinyl DJ.

Wish I knew how to do this now, hard explaining in writing but what i ment by yingyang is.

Think of a solid SD inside a circle, mold the S and the D into two half circles making a full circle and not overlapping.

have the image of a CD inside the SD similar to what GG did, have 'SounDs' repeated around the bottom half of the SD disc and some funky headphones on the top half.

What programs are you using for this, id like to give it a go myself sometime. :D

Wow, thanks for all the help and effort everyone is putting in - the logos are looking pretty funky so far - but glad ishkey picked up the digital dj'ing aspect

Oh and yes, I not had chance to log on over the weekend, but will look around the site and see if I can help or contribute to any other areas like reviewing someones web site

I found this techno dj image that you may get some inspiration from.
It's from a ps tutorial. (great techno reflect in the sunnies.)

1970Forest - I quite like the logo you have put up

Is there any way to perhaps put the SD part (with headphones) in the centre , so its centrally above the Sounds bit?

And as it will be primarily on a banner, I would love to use the funky colours, but could the font type be changed slightly? Wouldnt mind it a bit simpler looking font or something easier on the eye please?

I do quite like the 1st one GG put up too, altho it has round vinyl look about it - i like the colours and fonts used there...

WebsiteNewbie maybe you can look at dafont and find one that you like, so Forest can use it in the graphic.

    Thanks ishkey....

So many to choose from, but finding it difficult to know what would actually work.

I think under Retro, Page 2, Kelvinized maybe? or under Groovy, Page 1 - Akka (although not sure if this will stand out clearly enough)

Thanks in advance for your help

    Your welcome.
Now you know how a person designing a graphic feels when a post contains vague info like
"but could the font type be changed slightly" ( no offense to you ) but it really doesn't give much direction.

We get alot of people reading the Forum and I hope when they read your Post #8 they will learn from you how to request info. Your selection will allow 1970Forest to look at the fonts and determine if they will show well enough in a banner.

It's nice when people communicate with each other.

Fair point Ishkey - I guess its difficult when you're new to it all, to know how to effectively write down what you are trying to visualize, when the picture is so vague in your head too.

But you're right - If I relate it to when I am DJ'ing, I sometimes get a random person approaching and saying oh i dont like this song, put a really good song on for me!!! Doesnt help me one bit knowing what a 'really good song' is for this particular person! lol!

So can see how my initial comments wouldnt help anyone in taking it forward - especially having seen the vast majority of fonts on that site you advised!

Anyhows, thanks again, and look forward to seeing any further logo ideas that anyone mite be able to help with
