The purpose is to help students in math classes. It even has a homework helper. Most items are free. What can I do to improve it ??
    - menu
    - content
    - layout
is it easy to navigate (find the items you want or need) ??

I had difficulty with the Menu1/Menu2 selections. Mouse over Menu 1 and a drop down menu appears to the left, but try to go to the drop down window (in any direction it seems) the selection goes away. The pathway for the mouse to get to the menu1 dropdown is difficult to find.
Menu2 worked better, but still not consistently a point an click. It is a frustrating to not be able to slide and click where you want to go and to have to work for it. Once you do get to where you want to go, maybe a 'back' button or menu option would help instead of scrolling back to the top menu when you are done.
My 15 yr old daughter (just finished Alg II) was in the room and I got her to take a look at the site since she would be apt to visit a site like this. Her comments were: " the colors are a little plain, but it's not ugly. It is well organized into the different categories and easy to find what I am looking for. All the directions in the tutorial are words. I also learn best by looking at examples off to the side - makes 'tutoring' more effective."
Looks like the selections are all links to other sites, so her comments on wanting to see examples would seem to be issues with the sites linked to.
No problems with your site's info. It is definitely useful towards its purpose and well organized - no such sites when I was in school. No internet for that matter :)

    No problem
I can add tutorials with pictures. Algebra is usually a stumbling block for students. The pictures or illustrations will be the formulas and step by step solutions. Also I can add how to use several different calculators to solve the problems. Would that help ??
The two main calculators are TI and HP. TI is used by most students where HP is usually math and engineering students.
TI (Texas Instruments) is already listed in the articles, including a TI emulator (or calculator simulator on the computer). TI can be used all the way through Calculus (and it will solve the problems including algebraic notation - or formulas)

One thing I would also do, is maybe add some more color and pictures. Maybe some more Math style games. I know that math was really boring and bland when I was a kid and I've always hated math and have sucked at it for a long time. I could never get interested in numbers, and thats something that is really hard to do. Add some fun little games, or puzzles. Some more colors and some cool little math tricks. A kid, or teen for that matter, doesn't want to get on a dull looking site and stare at numbers. You gotta give the incentive. Nice job so far though, and I really hope you take what I'm saying and run with it!!

I have made some changes to "Trigonometry Tutorials" (format the same for "Algebra Tutorials" as it is for "Trigonometry Tutorials") to see how and if it helps. Added screenshots for the tutorials or articles, and have free tutors, free math puzzles, free ebooks, free homework helpers. Trying to take the drudgery out of math. I even have free calculators that will display the steps.
Problem is trying to display the site so kids will take advantage of it. It even lists free online high schools, free college classes and free university classes.
    -
Again, I have problems making it kid friendly, or design the page so they will take advantage.

Cool math .com - An amusement park of math and more! Math lessons, math games, math practice, math fun! I did a quick search of kid friendly math sites, and this one really caught my eye. I mean they have all kinds of information on there to help someone out with math, but also its fun and exciting to look at. Very colorful with crazy pictures. I would suggest maybe looking through here to see what the did and then take your own website and run with it. I'm a college student and I will probably use your website a lot, but it always makes it fun adding color and funny pictures that catch your eye! Also, have fun while making it. It shows if you aren't having fun while designing your website! Trust me!

Thank You for that tip. I will look into it seriously as I need something to improve the display. As for college math, be sure to try the Virtual TI (or TI Emulator) and "ticalc.org" has a lot of math programs. I have some very good "Statistics" programs. The math site has everything from "Arithmetic" to "Calculus" and I am in the process now of adding some very good (Free) calculators with screenshots (in Trigonometry - soon will also add to Algebra)
Anything you need in math, just ask.

I like the concept of your site, but am having a hard time staying interested because of the layout. Maybe you could section it off a bit more ~ adding lines so that it doesn't all look continuous. It looks like it runs together a bit much and that might have to do with the fact that your background is all white. I'm not sure what it is. And like you've had suggested to you already, some fun games...bright colors....something like that could help as well.

    hi falcon

You are missing Keyword tag as well. you probably need to add some more graphs and pictures and change background colour to make it more attractive

    thanks

    Thank you for the suggestions
I am presently working on screenshots for the calculators and samples on how to use them in solving problems (maybe some tutorials on how to use the calculators). Problem is that to do it well takes time with screenshots included with step-by-step tutorials.
I am trying to implement the suggestions
    Thanks again

The layout of the main site is pretty dull, it needs definately a change, try to nake it look like the math for kid's layout maybe?

I can reassure you, at least that's what most people think, that to attract more visitors, the look is by far more important than the index. The index is important to keep the visitors mostly.

To sum it up, the looks (layout, categorzing, fonts, colours, pictures) of this site needs impovement. The index, as I checked it, is veeeeery nice, good work there.

    Changed the template a little
    Located here: http://freetutorials.name/Reference1/Algebra tutorials 2.html
    -
is that a better banner and better for navigation
note: some really good free calculators and some free schools
(designed especially for home schoolers and distance education)
because they do not get the support they should get but
for all students of math (high school, college and universities)
note: a lot of free lessons and free tutoring
Be sure and check Algebra Tutorials 1 (it has a link)

    Hi,

I have only just joined this forum but I saw your request to review you website and as a Maths teacher here in the UK I thought I would give you my feedback in the hope that you find it useful.

I think that the content and ideas you have on there is excellent. However when I log on it is all too much in terms of writing and looking where I need to go. The layout looks too dull and complicated to search through. A website that my students use is MyMaths.co.uk - Bringing Maths Alive which is fresh and good to look at. Although not doing the same job as your site it gives kids the curiousity to look further. If you need my log in to view more just drop me a PM and I'll give it to you.

Credit to you for doing such a worthy thing by the way. Keep up the good work!

    Martin

Take a look at the calculators
Algebra Tutorials, math problems, calculations, detailled answers
    -
These and the TI Emulator are a help to students
The TI Emulator has many math programs from arithmetic
to calculus at http://www.ticalc.org/pub/83plus/basic/math/ The TI calculator is
programmable in Basic or assembly and has many built in functions.
This is the area I am concentrating on now.
    -
As for the layout and pictures, I am looking on how to improve.
For teachers and students, I will be adding a line-by-line
description of some of the math programs. Also some of the
optimizing techniques. The geometric figures is one of the
programs I intend to improve (give more information and more
    figures)
AAMath - Geometric shapes; calculator, pyramids, online calculator
    -
again this is to help students and teachers
I know it needs improvement for navigation,
layout and images, but that I have problems with.
Hope to improve it as I get more information

    Thank you

    Hey!:)

For your site, I think you should add lines and such to keep the sideabr and footer separate from the actual content it the middle.

Also, you need to make the website look more attractive. Add in some graphics and play with colors until it looks just right:)

Oh, and another idea. Make the font bigger. All I saw was a long list on tiny letters and it made me instantly dread the idea of looking for anything which can turn off potentially interested visitors.

My advice quick and simple, is to create a few more menus along the bottom of your header instead of on it and add more of your content to menu's under titles, get rid of the google ads at the top of your page as you already have it at the bottom.

People are more inclined to stay and view your site when they dont have to scroll up and down so much.

Great idea and great work chap, they never tought algebalubulalalala when I were in school.

Will try and shorten up the pages, make more categories so I can shorten them up to reduce scrolling and make more menus with larger text. The menu at the left side is to backup the dropdown menu if it has problems.

Will try and increase the text size. I am trying to find a better layout as I know it needs it. Don't know what to try, any suggestions
