    1) What is your website address (ex: http://site.com ; Site Name)?
    theGrumpyBlogger.net
New, and not yet up to speed.

    2) Description of your website:

It's my podium to voice my opinions, be they right or be they wrong. Mostly sports related, but all topics on which I have strong opinions will be fair game.

    • Referee's who need glasses, rule books or enema's.
    • Fan's dressing up in obnoxious uniforms, insulting their hosts and complaining about their lot in life...
    • Banks and Insurance companies, who screw you in the fine print out of every penny that they can.
    • The quality of bread - or the lack of any...
    • Education that teaches you nothing
    • The fantastic sport called "The Blame Game" ... the highlights of which are currently being played out in the GoM (Gulf of Mexico) has always given the GoM (Grumpy old Man) a mixture of heartburn and indigestion.

    3) List 3 logo designs you really like & why:
This is slightly difficult since I do not know what I like, nor do I want to limit any creativity.

The Grumpy Old Man, is opinionated, irritated at times/irritating to some, but he's not out to harm anyone or do permanent damage to friend or foe. Merely voice opinions on topics that most people believe are best swept under the carpet. He is full of character, intelligent, lively, yet chooses to complain as a way to bring thorny issues into public domain.

This 1st example is lovely but his attitude only. He seems annoyed, yet there is a sparkle in his eye. He is not only Grumpy, he has some mischief too. The rest of him is fantasy, his pick is obviously out of character, since you grind axes, not picks .. but yeah .. The Grumpy Old Man feels like this sometimes.

This 2nd example is rather simple, but this guy is boring. He could definitely qualify as a Grumpy Old Man but I think that he really needs a life.
See how he never lets anything out? He keeps it all inside, and that's why his shoulders droop like that.
This is less about grumpiness and more about constipation. He needs a laxative.

The 3rd example is .. hmmm.. he just look Lazy. Can you imagine this dude even forming an opinion? I can imagine him and his dog having some mean debates, but I do not know if they will be shared with a larger audience.
That said, this dude definitely has some appeal, in a strange kinda way ...
Checked shirt and polka dot socks? His wife definitely dresses him funny... the ole witch!

This old man has lived to see many a day, plenty of them covered in driving rain and howling winds. The only problem with him is that he is past the time where he cared enough to do anything about things. He has sunken into a melancholic sadness, that enshrines him in a mystique that will forever be his legacy. No-one is going to hear all the stories he has to tell.
He is best encountered over a quiet glass of rum in the corner of that old pub down the bottom of Wharf St.

Ok four guys... don't tell me that more is less !

    4) Requested size of your logo:
Basically we ask this to determine the graphic's resolution and what it will be eventually used for.
Is the logo to be used solely for the web? (low resolution)
Will it be made into a poster or printed on shirts? (high resolution)
Do you need the final image in various sizes? (various resolutions)

    Uhmmm .. no, yes, yes
I would like a decent resolution, not just web quality. This is not absolutely necessary, just nice to have.
Different size, yes please .. perhaps 2 size perhaps 3 size.

    5) Do you have any images/photos that can be used for the logo? (must be copyright free)
I do not have images. I do not have a picture of the Old Man in my head either. He's somewhere else right now. I'll know hiw when I see him tho.

    6) Any colors you prefer?
    Weather-beaten ...
    Is that a colour?

    Montague -
You certainly have a way with words. Interesting occupation you have there...an opinionater. :D Love it!

You've given us a fairly thorough idea of what you're after regarding a logo. So you're basically after a comical old guy 'cartoon' graphic. Unfortunately, there's only a few designers on here that can create that kind of free hand, specialised character and I haven't seen them posting in quite a while.

No doubt the samples you've posted would be all copyrighted to someone. Give it a few days to see if other members here can help you out. Meanwhile, I'll see if I can find something that may suit you.

    Cheers

"The fantastic sport called "The Blame Game" ... the highlights of which are currently being played out in the GoM (Gulf of Mexico) has always given the GoM (Grumpy old Man) a mixture of heartburn and indigestion."

You think you have heartburn and indigestion - the waters off my property in Destin FL are being devastated and will take a miracle from mother nature to bring back.
Two major problems here and in the world.
    1. Not the blame game as much as it is Greed.
    2. The excessive Tree-Huggers of the world who drove the oil rigs into deep water and nixed Nuclear Power.

Just a comment from at times another GoM.

Anyway maybe something along these lines may work for you.

well thanks GG - just a little bit of time - would have been easier with a pen tablet, but mine died last year.
Got a chuckle out of Montague, that's a start.
    Me thinks too old.
How about just a middle aged head like this. It could be an opinionated wood worker. :)

Thanks again gnoble. I've noticed your graphics are in the stellar rank. Someday I hope to master these programs as easy as coding comes to me, but until then I just keep practicing.

Montague must be out at sea, seeing if one of his new creations is sea worthy and water tight. I hope it's water tight... Maybe he is wrapped up in some debate on his blog site. Who knows???
Anyway I'm all cartooned out so if he ever comes back maybe he'll give more input for someone to create him what he is looking for.

Sorry for this delay, I've been considerably distracted with various matters in and around the house lately. I've not been myself.
There is also the small matter of making sure I get my fair dose of the World Cup, Wimbledon, US Open ... and more :)
The Grumpy Sailor looks marvellous indeed. Thank you for all the effort you have put into him.
