Legacy Help with football logo

Hi all, I'm looking for some help creating our football team logo. We are a village team created a few years ago and have only managed to get into a football league last year. We got promoted in our first season and thought it be best to design a logo but unfortunately our skills on graphic programmes are very limited and hope someone can help.

This is the design that we came up with:



The reasons behind the symbols are that Staxigoe was one of the main fishing ports for Herring in europe in the early 1900's.

We play in black and yellow and our name is Staxigoe United Football Club. We hope someone can help us and we don't mind any change in the design as it is slightly plain looking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks CovertPea. As long as your not looking around here for herring as I don't think there is much left now lol. I'd be greatful if you wanted to add any creative influence to it as well as some of the designs you have done have been amazing.
