    Site: www.tutocity.com

I have created a new website which is part of my major assignment this year at uni.

The website is a free template and design tutorial site, im currenty at the stage where im starting to make the free templates and tutorials but some feedback on what you think so far would be great :)

The site is running Joomla CMS with an intergrated SMF forum with my own custom theme.

Also let me know if there is anyone out there who may be interested in been a mod on the site once it starts to kick off.

    thx! :)

    Hey Scott!
I rarely, if ever, do reviews on people's sites. Probably because I don't know how websites work or how to put them together.
I do visit heaps of tutorial sites though and I suppose I can draw comparisons from what I like and don't like about certain tut sites.
So with that being said, I'll just add a few comments from a 'users' pov.

1 First thing that jumped out at me was the pink colour. I like it (being a shiela) but what about the guys?
2 The site loaded slowly for me but that could just be my connection.
3 I think the tutorials would be better with each having its own page. Preferably opening in a new window.
4 Couple of typos on the main page- "..who are here to improve there talents.." there should be 'their'.
Same again with "...as well as having there work.."
Under Main Menu - Contact Us, no 's' in contact.
Under Tutorial Menu - Photography has an extra 'to' in it.

Apart from those few tiny hiccups the site looks brilliant! It's easy to see you've put a heck of a lot of work into it and its paid off.

    Congratulations Scott. :D :D

    Cheers

    Thanks both of you :)

smfdadmin - When i get around to it I will be turning the banner into flash and having the lights of the city turning on and off, maybe even try make it look like the city cars are driving around on the roads. Hopefully that will make it a bit more interesting :)

    1. Yeah was not really sure about the pink myself but from most of the people I have talked to they seem to like the color.. even the guys. What do the guys on this site think of the color? Even if i keep the pink maybe its a bit bright?

    2. Site is hosted with hostgator and has been a bit slow for me lately as well. Will have to look into it :(

    3. What do you mean each have there own page? They already do have there own page?

    4. Yeah I often get typos lol. Will have to go through the site checking everything.

    Thanks again :)

I mean a page just showing the tutorial itself, with none of the menus, latest news or search thing on it.
Similar to this site http://pshero.com/ when you click on one of the tutorial pics.

I don't know, maybe doing it this way isn't viable, extra pages, bandwidth etc. (told you I don't understand website stuff! :D

Oh ok I get you. Well because im using a content management system its not really very easy to do something like that, The whole site just uses the same template.

The content management system has taken me a long time to learn how to use and most of it is all php which i know very little about so would not even know where to begin for something like that tbh.

Its allready heavily modified to get it how it is now lol.

Alright, so I took a look at your site, the design is nice, and I really like the header.
But, too much pink for me (although I love it). ;)

Anyways, site loads really slow on broadband connection. :(
You should look into getting a faster host.

Anyways, as a user I found the site semi attractive because there weren't too many ads.

Good job, and tell us when you have more content up!

I can never make up my mind.. this is like the 4th different design I have made for the site :p

    Your site loads slow
Whatever the problem, you can help or speed up the process by compressing the pictures. There are compression programs that do not loose detail when uncompressed (commonly referred to as zip and unzip). Also text can be compressed, but not as much as pictures and graphics or illustrations.
Find out if the time of day has anything to do with load speed. That would mean that the site provider may be close to overload (ie. when people get off work and on holidays or weekends). AOL had this problem and finally had to add more servers. Check your site and see if you can change anything to speed up the load time (not change the design) maybe by changing the order it loads. There are ways and programs to do this, many are free. Remember, people still use phone lines (which are slow).
    hope this helps

To my opinion this kind of pink is a bit irritating. Probably you could make it a bit lighter?

You need some English lessons or a translator
There are several free language translator programs and grammar checkers available (they help some), also spelling checkers (note - British and American English are different).
    hope this helps

hmm I can't say that your site loads slow on my connection but I am using Google chrom and tha main thing I've seen is that in your homepage I can't see the logo ..that city which appears when I go to the forum part..

    Good luck.
