    Hi all,

I would like to introduce myself first. My name is Jay and I am student photographer right now but I am slowly getting some gig's and starting my own photography business. I found out about this forum from another forum oddly enough and couldn't be more glad.

I sincerely thank anyone who helps in designing a logo for me in advance. Its much appreciated and I am thankful as such. I am a student photographer right now but if I can in the end I wouldn't mind making a small donation to final designer who's logo's I end up using. :)

    Hopefully the info below suffices.

So here goes my request attempt at a logo as per the rules:

    1) What is the exact name you would like in your logo?

    Jay Gill Photography

    2) What is your website address (ex: http:/site .com/; Site Name)?

Dont have one right now but I will be creating one later this year. But for now I am displaying my recent work on flickr. My flickr site :

    Flickr: Jay Gill Photography's Photostream

    3) Description of your website or business:

I photograph a variety of things. My main focus though is weddings, engagements, events, parties, automotive action and stills. I also do some product and lifestyle along with pet photography. My work is trendy and changes with current themes of the time in which I am producing it, but, in general in the future I would like produce work that is "modern and fresh"

    4) Search the Internet for any logos/designs on the web that you feel convey
the style you are looking for?

Here are logo's that I have found that I like. So here it goes :

#1) This one is my favourite. I love the blue signature and grey block lettering

#2) This one is my second fave ( again love the signature combined with block lettering):

#3) My third fave ( top right corner of website):
    Cliff Mautner Photography

#4) A bit different from the rest but I like it:

    5) Requested size of your logo:

The logo will be used on the website in the headers, intro pages and various other places when I make a website. It will also will be used for business cards, flyers and other print material (nothing huge though). The MOST use for this logo will be as a logo/watermark in my actual images.

    6) Do you have any images/photos that can be used for the logo? (must be copyright free)

No graphics. As you might have noticed from the samples above I really just want simple logo that compliments my work not overpower.

    7) What logo styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)?

I am looking for a text only logo. Here is an example of my ideal logo:

    8) What colors do you want to see in your logo?

I really like the colors blue, grey, black, white and brown. My favourite combination so far is blue and grey for actual text and then black or white backgrounds. Also white text on grey and/or black backgrounds work as well for my taste.

    9) What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo?
Pink, orange, yellow, purple, etc.... hopefully you catch my drift here!

    10) Describe the target audience for your logo

Target audience is probably 15 - 35 age group. Trendy, modern and mostly a "younger crowd" is how I would describe the target audience.

    11) What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?

I would like the logo to communicate the following: 1) character of the company and person behind it, 2) give a relaxed and modern feel to the end user and 3) be a logo that clearly shows who's work your looking at.

    12) Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?

Business cards, prints, flyers and other promotional materials, website, blog, resume, watermark/logo in images (CS5 and Lightroom3 used for editing).

    13) Do you have other info or links you want to share?

Being able to get a logo in different background color and text combinations would just be fantastic and really give me creative control in being able to use different color combinations of the logo in different places. Also having a variety of sizes and formats of the logo for different uses would be a huge plus!

Like the samples I shared above if you create a logo with a combination of initials and then full name my initials are "JG".

    14) Finally we need is there a style font you prefer, please let us know.

I basically am looking for a combination of "signature" style font combined with a "block" letters font in the logo like in the logo here:

^^^ I like this one... its not bad.. but I would prefer a "signature" style font for the "JG" and then maybe a "block" lettering font for the full name with some added color ?

Thanks, for these... the designs are bit different from what I was thinking but maybe make the flow of the logo more "left - to - right" and perhaps a darker blue on the color and ?

    Thanks, so far!

I thought about this to implement the 'G' and the 'J' together and came out like this...

thanks to everyone that posted but I ended up making one on my own in Photoshop and just layer it into to my images via an action.

Its not as nice I requested here, but, its good enough for now.

Thanks again to all that posted.
