The purpose of this site is to provide readers with free quality investment news and information by keeping them informed of current world financial issues.

What do you like/dislike and how would you improve it, please be honest and specific.

-The name "Totalinvestor". Is it good/catchy/memorable?
    -layout (colors, headings, titles)
    -logo, do I need one?
    -charts (more or fewer)?
    -videos (more or fewer)?
-would you personally use this site every day?
    -any advice on promoting it?

    Thank you all in advance.

    Review of totalinvestor.com
Whilst content is the most important thing I have to say that the initial visual impression was boring. A proper logo would be much better than the flat text in your header area and there's too much of the dull grey background for me. And why the blue headings when your main impact colour is green? Just my opinion of course...

    Hi TI

    Here's how I see it, sorry going to be brutal;

    Very plain and basic
If you are going to keep to a one pager, you need to and header links which would direct you to parts of the page (similar to "back to top") as its not clear what is on your site without lots of scrolling up and down
Logo would make it look more professional
If only I had spare cash then maybe would use the site
As I'm not a template designer the only bit I do know is that the more info you put in the info search link then the higher up you go with search engines.

You do have a good concept and I'm sure many would find it useful, but you could do worse than ask some of the designers on here in some of the other sections

Thanks for the help, but unfortunately I haven't a clue what you just said. I've been a stock/commodities broker for about twenty years so I know about investments, but know very little about programming language.
When I first started totalinvestor.com it looked like this TotalInvestor - WELCOME TO TOTALINVESTOR ! (it was done professionally). Updating the web site was too complicated for me so I started a blog (much easier/faster) and I sent all traffic to my blog.
Is there a way I can use "meta tags" and templates and anything else that will increase my PR on Google with my blog?
BTW, your second example was for another domain based in the UK.

    Hi totalinvestor,

I obviously don't know how you update your blog precisely but there will be some kind of "user interface" or "control panel" that lets you alter its settings or appearance, as well as its content.

If you go to TOTALINVESTOR (the real web page) and view the page source (View | Page Source in Firefox, View | Source in IE) you'll be able to see the meta tags that both you and navyfalcon have mentioned. You'll probably be able to modify these somewhere in your control panel.

As navyfalcon says you need to add something like the following:
    <meta name="descripion" content="Totalinvestor - Free quality investment news and information" >

Also, the first line of your articles (in blue) is a link to the same page (which doesn't serve much purpose). If you changed this to an <H1> type of heading (from what I know of SEO) Google would use it as a description of your page content and would be more likely to direct people to it.

For example, today's heading is "Harry Schultz on the Power Elite, Free Markets, the Internet and Why Gold Is Going Much Higher" and you might come up if someone was googling "Harry Schultz", "Power Elite", or "Free Markets" etc.

    Hope this helps.

Geoff Tyrer he seems to know what he is talking about
his advice is correct (seems he's had experience)

There are several members who will be glad to assist you in accomplishing your goals.
    -
First thing is how to correct your meta tags
(it will improve pagerank and traffic)
use special (free) software to accomplish this
    -
First piece of software is keyword suggestion tools
I use wordtracker (but there are others, your preference)
Free keyword suggestion tool for SEO, Adwords & blogging
    -
You check out keywords (words people use to find your site)
and their popularity with the keyword tool
check to see if singular or plural is most popular
use the more popular keywords for your metatags
also repeat the words in the body of your site
    check similar sites for examples

I am only offering my opinion here....
I know that people notice first what is at the top of a page and then their natural tendency is to go to the left first. (There are certain cultures where just the opposite is true though) Therefore, I think that I would put the graphs and things on the right side and put the index points on the left.
I also agree with the other person on the color scheme being a bit boring and drab. I think some color will make it seem brighter and grabbing. I also think a logo or artwork at the top would bring people in and make them want to see what is below. I also agree that there could be some page indexes to quickly guide people to where they may want to go, instead of having to scroll, scroll, and more scroll to see if they want to proceed.

The color green (like money) is a good grabber.

Sorry if this is too blunt. I do like the content on the site though.

    Have a wonderful day.

As a female who IS interested in money I would like to say the GREEN isn't very nice, it kind of reminds me of old chat pages whereby people would make pages as garish(sp?) as possible.
-The name "Totalinvestor". Is it good/catchy/memorable? - Great name
-layout (colors, headings, titles) - not keen on the colour scheme, drab and a bit old fashioned.
-logo, do I need one? - definately, for future business, cards presence in the world
-charts (more or fewer)? -not sure about this one
-videos (more or fewer)? -again not sure
-would you personally use this site every day? - if it contained quick bullet points
-any advice on promoting it? - sorry not my section.

Good luck with it, its kind of scary isn't it doing something you haven't done before but kind of exciting!!

    Happy Webdesigning!!
