I've recently become aware of SiteGrinder and would be grateful if anyone who has used it could post their view of it.

    Web development for graphics specialists

SiteGrinder is a PhotoShop plug-in that makes it easy for PhotoShop users to create web pages and whole web sites - without any in-depth knowledge of HTML or CSS.

I'm posting because I'm curious as to whether graphics specialists welcome such tools.

I'm interested because I'm developing one - a wysiwyg web development tool that requires no knowledge of HTML/CSS whatsoever. Using it web design will be more about creating the content and the visual impact than about the technicalities of HTML and CSS - which there would be no need to even look at.

How would traditional web developers feel if their job was de-skilled in this fashion?

Most WYSIWYG Editors that I have seen and used put out bloated code and should have cleanup. HTML Tidy helps some. Better to develop a WYSIWYG cleanup editor (ie HTML/CSS optimizer or code corrector). This would be a useful tool. A combination WYSIWYG and code corrector would be good.

    Thanks for that navyfalcon.

When you say bloated code do you mean unnecessary white space or repetitive or unnecessary HTML/CSS?

What would you say is the best WYSIWYG editor?

best WYSIWYG editor - don't know
I use a wysiwyg editor sometimes but correct the code.
Most make the same or repetitive mistakes so it is easier to correct if you use the same one. Even "Dreamweaver has its problems but less than most.

Lots of luck with your project to make one. If you make one with less code overbyte or less problems then I may try it.

    Hi falcon,

When it's getting near finished I'll get in touch so that you can take a look at it if you have time. I would really value your opinion.
