Hi, I'm new here and have to say what a wonderful self help website. I hope to be able to return help where I can. I'm hoping I may be able to get some help with my logo design, any attempts will be greatly appreciated.

I'm starting a photography website to display works.
I've tried creating a logo, but can't seem to get anywhere near a point where I can call it professional looking.

    1) What is your website address ?
    www.aboutfacephotography.co.uk its not live yet

    2) Description of your website:
I'm hoping to showcase still life, commercial, fine art and portraiture. My work tends to be a little quirky and eye catching hopefully to stand out from the crowd. I want the site to be clean, contemporary and uncluttered.

    3) List 3 logo designs you really like & why:

    (thank you Eric :) )

All easy to read, crisp and simplistic.

    4) Requested size of your logo:
The logo willbe displayed on the website and also on business cards and letterheads.

    5) Do you have any images/photos that can be used for the logo?
In an attempt to keep it uncluttered I wasn't planning on using an photo but don;t made a simple unobtrusive graphic.

    6) Any colors you prefer?
Simplicity and easy to read is top of the list. The website will either have a mid gray or white background (the latter I feel or I may have problems with matching up the bus cards and ltr heads). I think primary colours are out, possibly gold or mid blues or greens or a darkish red. If I can change the colour scheme from time to time that would be great.

Why have you put the word 'logo' in red where ever you have used it?

Sorry I haven't, I cut and paste it from one of the sticky posts but couldn't get it to change to black without ie crashing on me. I'll go back and try again.... after a couple more attempts now changed to black.

lol yes feel free to join I know how you feel photography logos are probably the best to do because you can just make it simple and it just has those 'posh' look to it so it's fun to do but also sent you a PM so check that out first...

    @ Tres...

I've noticed you've signed in a few times but have not helped out within the forum. Could you please have a look around and see where you can help as a way of giving back to the comminuty and i'm sure you recieve more responses from the designers on here.

    Thanks

While signing in I have been reading through the posts to see if I can offer help to anyone or offer an opinion where asked. If it works out that I don't receive a logo design response here of course I'd still like to help anyone where I can. :)

Just a few quick questions before I get started (been busy lately) - what color background do you want? White/light grey or dark grey/black? You weren't exactly clear in your first post.

Ah, it will either be white or mid gray which in RGB terms is 128,128,128
I'm still trying to decide which best shows the images.

Right, I've given it a go. Tried to include the colours you stated not so sure about the stars but let me know what you think.

Also don't know if you wanted one in Black and White to watermark your images but here it anyway...

Thought I would keep it mostly text based from looking at your examples that's the impression I got.

But let me know what you think....

Firstly thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.
I'm not keen on the stars either. This is really difficult to judge when people give up their time to do this. We photographers are funny things, it has something to do with what the eye and brain takes in during the first 6 seonds of being on a site. Primary colours are not good in this case as the eye is drawn initially to reds and greens, I'd like to see a plainer text which is really simple to read.

You have certainly helped me come to a decision on the background colour (thank you) it will be white. I hadn't thought of watermarking with my logo (as opposed to plain text) so thats another thumbs up.

So you're looking for full text based logos with no graphics? and the background was there so you can see the colours properly.

    lol that's cool..great design CP!

I think that would go quite well on top of the images and also as a logo itself...like the font too

Very nice designs peeps, it seems with photographers logos, plain and simple is the way to go.

Give me a camera any day, this graphics stuff is altogether different ;) The background definately white.
I guess so but I do like CP's logo, thank you for you input.

It might help if I give a little background. I chose the name About Face not just for portraits but for turning something around i.e. a business. I hope I haven't complicated things.
