Hello. I have a small business that I use to create video montages for people. I call it Rachel's Custom Creations. I need a logo for it, and I have an idea in my head of what I want it to look like, but I dont have the proper software to create it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

    1) My website address (the free one until I get my new one up and running) is www.freewebs.com/rachelscc and it is called Rachel's Custom Creations

    2) The site lists my services I offer and all contact info/pricing

    3) List 3 logo designs you really like & why:

    a) This is a link to a logo that I really liked for the fact that it uses a filmstrip to make a letter. I would LOVE to have the letter 'R' in this type of look. I tried to draw it freehand, and failed. I would love to use the letter 'R' in a filmstrip look in my logo. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v341/javygirl178/Website/35_1705_logo.gif

    b) I like logos that are straight to the point, yet stand out and have a 'wow factor'. Here is one for the Lord of the Rings movie that I like because it uses the two 'R' letters in the title to create a "ring" shape, which is what the movie is about: http://www.tothegame.com/res/game/2018/logo.jpg

    c) I like the following logo because it shows the four major attractions at the park in a graphical way, while also using a whimsical font to say the name of the park...
    http://www.infostarbase.com/disney/images/wdw_logo.gif

    4) I dont have a size preference; I would like one that is big enough that I can use it on flyers, maybe about 640x480 and can be shrunk to use on sites and business cards. As far as whether it should be short and long, or a "square"...it doesnt matter. Whatever looks best for the designer of the logo.

    5) I do not have any photos that are copyright free, however the logo mentioned above was an idea that I loved (utilizing the film strip letter)

Also, here are a few links to photos that are not copyright free, but are ideas for graphics that I like. I dont know where to get any copyright free ones that are like this though.
    Film strip w/clapper board: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v341/javygirl178/Website/6057.jpg

    Film strip:

    Other film strip (clear):

    6) Colors: I do want blue included. it is my favorite. But I also would like black (the color of filmstrips) included as well. I would like other colors to be used, but blue/black being the main. The two colors I really do not want are: orange and brown.

If you have any questions please ask and I will be happy to try to further explain anything I might have miscommunicated.

    Thank you.:D

    Hello Javygirl!
Firstly, well done on articulating your logo request, this helps SO much when trying to work on a member's design. :D
I read your post earlier today and, just to see if it could be done, I became determined to have a go at creating an "R" with a flowing 'film' type look.
Anyhow many hours later, (using my trusty ol' paint shop pro 7) I came up with the letter below.
Would you like this incorporated into a logo design?

    Simple but stands out.
I played round with a "Custom Creations" text but found it cluttered up the logo part. (Unless it's a REALLY small point size, which defeats the whole purpose!) I suggest you add the CC text alongside or below to suit yourself.

Will you be changing your website? As the colours in this logo don't match too well with what you have at the moment.
Let me know if this is useful or perhaps I can send the "R" to another member here to play round with some different ideas.

(In both white and blue backgrounds)

I do see what you are saying about it being cluttered if you add that text in. I agree...I'll add that in.

I do like the logo and the ovalish background you gave it. But I'm wondering if there might be something else that can be done with it. It would work, but I keep seeing somethign else in my mind (well i dont really see it otherwise I could do it lol), but I'm wondering if someone else might could do something else with the R...

DOnt get me wrong it is awesome! I just want to see if someone else has any other ideas that could possibly incorporate the R and the Custom Creations part...I dont knwo maybe another font on the name or something..could you send it to another member to see?

You did an awesome job! You guys should get paid for this! The "R" is spectacular. I am totally impressed with it!

Oh, on the colors of the site, I am getting a "real" site, but was waiting on a logo. The one I have is a freebie...so the colors will change to reflect the logo :)

No problems at all with that mate.
I've attached the "R" (saved as .psd file in photoshop v7), if anyone else has some ideas to help Javygirl, please be my guest!

    Cheers

Ok, I think I know what I want to do with the CC part of the logo, but I dont know what kind of font you used for "achel's"...I am assuming you used PSP7 which I have a demo of, but didnt know how you did this. i wanted to use text that matched the rest of it :) Thanks!!

The font is Rob Leuschke's "Shalimar Swash" which unfortunately, isn't free.
The psd file I attached to my last reply only contains the "R" graphic in 3 layers, so you can basically add whatever font you want to it.
Scriptina is another nice font (free) which should look okay for this.

Just wanted to show you the updated look! Thanks so much for all your help! I used the Scriptina font which I got a LOT of people say they loved. One question about it...do people have a way of making sure their logos are copywritten so others dont take and modify them, or is it an "understood" thing? What could I do to keep people from taking mine? Thanks again!!!

Anyone who wants to 'copy' someone's work/logo can get it if they're determined enuff!
Adding 'no right click' scripts to your site is a waste of time as there's always screen grabs to copy images. For me, I find it just plain annoying (I frequently use right click to go 'back' a page or to 'open in new window' a page link. Nothing fumes me more than getting a "Don't even think about it!" message pop-up when I right click on a page. gggrrr (okay, had my whine!) :p
Best you can do is watermark a copyright symbol (Alt+0169) over your logo, somewhere and hope for the best.
Preferably over a gradient or text area (harder to clone off)

Ahh thats what I thought. Yeah It drives me nuts if they disable right click. And its not like worth fighting over to get it where they cant save it...but I see the copyright symbol on that one. Thanks!! You have really helped me out here. Take care & God bless!
