Hi everyone and thanks for reading this post.

    1)
What is the exact name you would like in your logo?

    sledworks.ie

    2) What is your website address (ex: http:/site .com/; Site Name)?
    http://sledworks.atspace.co.uk/
    (work in progress)

    3) Description of your website or business:
I have started to make traditional steam-bent wooden toboggans and will soon be offering them for sale online to the UK and Ireland.
The name that I have come up with is "sledworks.ie" and the websites will probably be sledworks.ie and sledworks.co.uk.

This is the type of toboggan that I make >> http://mastodoninc.com/images/products/1.jpg

    4) Have you found any logos/designs on the web that you feel convey
the style you are looking for?
Northern Toboggan and Sled -- Snow Sleds and Toboggans
Home - Find Toboggan Hills in your area - TobogganHills.com
Cascade Toboggan Rescue Equipment Company Inc. - Logo Wear and Gifts
I like the way the shape of the toboggan is incorporated into the logo.
Especially the tobogganhills.com one which shows a bit of fun and movement, yet is just a silhouette.

    5) Requested size of your logo:
It will be used on the website (Sledworks.ie - Ireland's favourite snow sleds.) and also being able to stamp the logo directly onto each wooden product would be great, so a silhouette-type design may be better than one with too many colours.

    6) Do you have any images/photos that can be used for the logo? (must be copyright free)
I like the idea of people on a toboggan forming part of the logo, like the tobogganhill.com one. Silhouette would be best. Have googled a lot and can't find much.
    Closest I can find is:
    http://cache4.asset-cache.net/xc/87...F8723F5BC3A6E92FDD5FC363DA7F5E30A760B0D811297

    7) What logo styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)?
Text and image but not an image with lots of different colours.

    8) What colors do you want to see in your logo?
    Blue, black, green, red maybe

    9) What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo?
    don't mind

    10) Describe the target audience for your logo
30 somethings, parents, people looking for something better than a cheap plastic sled or toboggan.

    11) What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?
    Toboggans are fun
This is a good quality product
We will be straightforward to deal with

    12) Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?
On website, also ink-stamped on the product.

    13) Do you have other info or links you want to share?
I like this photo, not sure how that can help, but I love the old-fashioned-ness of it.
    http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_YlSH8tu2x...AArQ/bzWGWXT3I-w/s1600/Northland_Toboggan.jpg

    14) Finally we need is there a style font you prefer, please let us know.
I've been messing around with the Kool Beans font (from fonstspace.com)

See the flash logo on the website (Sledworks.ie - Ireland's favourite snow sleds.)

Hey boatbuilder (sledguy) couldn't help reminisce my days as a youth when we couldn't wait for Toboggan Hills to open up. Waxing up the old sled, strapping down to the roof of the car and heading out to Palos Park. When entering the park, you were greeted with a view of a frozen lake where people were skating there hearts out and in the background - the huge hill with 20 sled chutes and the spot lights gleaming.

302 steps to the top we toted the sled, placed it into the track, positioned our bodies just right for the fastest speed, gave a wave to the cute door operator to release the door holding us and the then the exhilaration was on. The speed started to pick-up as did the wind in our faces flying down the hill exiting the track on to the fresh snow trying to beat the distance of the sled before us. When the sled came to a stop it and the excitement, we started the whole process all over again and again and again.

Thanks for sparking a great memory.

In return I thought something along the the lines of the wood that sleds are made from.
I like the examples you showed but just thought since you are a craftsman of one (or you were until your website changed) this would be more appropriate.

Thanks for taking the time to do a logo! I've put it on the website to see how it looks...
    Sledworks.ie - Ireland's favourite snow sleds.
Edit: Having probs logging into the hosting control panel, but will upload it asap.

I'm not 100% sure of the woodgrain pattern and shadows and all caps....looking for something a bit "cleaner". But thanks so much for it anyway.

Toboggans like this aren't available in the UK or Ireland...everyone buys plastic ones with no soul. Hopefully there will be a demand for them.

Now that is a bit confusing -

"everyone buys plastic ones with no soul"
You are into the old fashion wood sleds.
You have old pics on the site.
and yet you want "a bit "cleaner".

You are going to have to express a little more detail as to what you want at least for me, as I you can see from my view of your site and product - you are of the old world.

Logo looks good on the site, blends well....(Mr ish I see that you too know have your watermark on a site, welcome to club...lol)

Must agree here with Ishkey, but all the elements to portray through the site are within the logo. Cleaner now I'm lost

You fellas are convincing! I can see your points.
I suppose the point I am trying to make is that even though I am into old school stuff, maybe my target audience is a bit more modern.

I've fiddled around with it a bit, stretched it lengthways a bit and tilted it up to give the impression of a sled on a slope.
    Compare this>> Sledworks.ie - Ireland's favourite snow sleds.
to this >>>Sledworks.ie - Ireland's favourite snow sleds.

What do you think? Again, thanks for your time and effort, I'd never have been able to do this myself.

    Thanks Forest.
Someone once told me that something going downhill implies pessimism and going uphill implies optimism lol.

I'd be pretty happy with the sloped one on my website to be honest.
So where do we go from here? How does the watermark get removed and is it possible to also have a black and white version with no colour in the middle but just a black outline? (i.e. so I could possibly stamp it on products)

    Thanks a lot,
    David

Hey boatbuilder sorry but I have been busy taking care of business.
Here is a couple png versions of the color one for the website minus the watermark.
I will work on the black and white version.

    woodsled.png

    angle_woodsled.png

black and white faster than I antisipated.

Hey sledbuilder I just realized the black and white one is probably to small to work with so I enlarged it a tad. This way you can reduce it down as needed. Graphics reduce down easier than increasing up.

    blk_wht.png

I usually don't put this much effort into these free logos but decided I just didn't like the way it looked on your site so I flatted the logo, added a tobaggon in the background. There is noway with the sled in it to create a black and white but it is still the logo above but in color.
If you like it let me know and I will post up the png file.
