    Hello,

I just want to say hello and tell you why I am here, just in case I can get some guidance at some point in the future.

I have a bookshop (English) in Barcelona and I am looking at rebuilding my webs. I want to set up a stripped down version of a social network site for the shop's home page and then set up an (osCommerce) shop for my actual commercial section. I am looking at using templates because they seem to be faster and (maybe?) easier to actually pick up the basics.

I want to make the shop page an entry to an English speaking community. Nothing very complex there.

The shop is self explanatory, but I see some of the templates include an option for clients adding reviews; a good idea, I think.

I am not afraid of paying for templates if they are good, but I notice what seems like the same template being sold for as much as twice (or half) the price.

I am hoping to snoop around these forums and find helpful information without having to bore you all with silly questions.

    Cheers,

    Cheers!

    Cheers!

I am having quite a time going through the various threads and such. Much more to this than I might have thought; so many prices and so many options to be taken into account!

FYO I seem to have nearly no problem finding an osCommerce template that seems to be acceptable, but the social networking site seems like a mine field. I want something not very complex (forums, blogs, news, marketplace and a newsletter) but the templates I see are either simple (or not) and very expensive or very complex (or not) and free. This will take some work.

As I say, I am trolling through your threads and hope to see someone else with the self same problems and an answer that will help.

    Cheers again,

    Frank Sirett

Hi Frank. The thing I did was set up a template for my forum and then customize it myself. You only need to know enough coding to get you buy and cut and paste mods / images.

I wish I could be more help and point you to a great template. Here's one site you might want to try looking for forum templates:

Other than that, if you want something custom built, I own a hosting / development company and I can get it done for you.

    Good luck -

Cheers for that. I am looking at an osCommerce template for the online bookshop and considering a Joomla site for the home site. I am a great believer in having something for people to do on a site as well as simple information. That gives them a better feel, I think.

    Cheers,
