Legacy Ice skating logo request/help :) please help!

Hey guys, I'm new here, and would really appreciate some input or ideas from members of the forum. Basically we have this current logo:

although we feel it is too feminine and out dated for our current society standings.

I am looking for either descriptions of what i could do to change it myself or even for a designer to create one themselves, I am capable at illustrator and photoshop/GIMP but i have absolutely NO idea what to do with this logo and have been charged with the task. Any help would be greatly appreciated from you guys, if you need any help with your logos or advice/tips on any graphical design things let me know thanks, (details below)

1) What is the exact name you would like in your logo?
ICE SOC or Ice Society (doesn't have to be in capitals or lower case, just whatever looks good )

2) What is your website address (ex: http:/site .com/; Site Name)?
No website

3) Description of your website or business:
Just a university society for ice skaters, were looking for a new logo that isn't as feminine as our last logo, although some of the committee want the logo to be similar (link to an image of our old logo is at the top)

4) Search the Internet for any logos/designs on the web that you feel convey

This is kind of cool, but it is too busy with the background etc, we are looking i think for vector based work so it is resizeable and also to be simple enough to print onto hoodies etc.

5) Requested size of your logo:
High resolution size would be good as it will be used on posters and shirts/hoodies as well as smaller items


6) Do you have any images/photos that can be used for the logo? (must be copyright free)
Yes our old logo is linked at the top of this thread for ideas, inspiration, improvement or whatever else (sorry for the small size, its the only copy i have to work with)

7) What logo styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)?
Text and image, similar to that of our previous logo

8) What colors do you want to see in your logo?
Only Black/Blue

9) What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo?
Any that would be difficult to print onto hoodies of varying colour.

10) Describe the target audience for your logo
Target audience is for members of the club to wear with pride and also for advertising and putting on our leaflets when trying to gain new members

11) What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?
What we are called (Ice Society)
That its NOT just for girls/figure skaters (less feminine than before)
That we look fairly professional

12) Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?
Leaflets (tri fold, a4, a5) posters of varying sizes, no bigger than A3, Hoodies, shirts, facebook display picture.

13) Do you have other info or links you want to share?
My president requests that the image of an ice skate remains on the logo

14) Finally we need is there a style font you prefer, please let us know.
any font that looks proffesional and not cheesy/purely winter based as this society runs all year . Thanks

Hi, thanks for the reply, Its a bit too busy for what I need (printing on shirts etc) but I like the idea of having some form of skater with trail lines after the boots, which is a great help, thank for your time I greatly appreciate it friend.

I'm still curious to see more ideas! Thanks again everyone

Covertpea, would it be possible to get the version you have please, and also could you maybe link me the vector file if you have them so we can change it in future if we need to? thanks all for your time im very happy with them all!
