Hi I stumbled upon this site and love the designs. I am on the exec of the Weston Creek soccer club, we are looking at changing the name to football club, and I am proposing a re-design of our club crest to go with the name change and would love some help in designing it and am happy to help out around the site where I can

    1) What is the exact name you would like in your logo?

Weston Creek Football Club (and possibly ‘Est. 1971’)

    2) What is your website address (ex: http://site.com ; Site Name)?

    http://www.westoncreeksoccer.org.au/

    3) Description of your website:
    -

    4) Have you found any logos/designs on the web that you feel convey
the style you are looking for?

I love the old historic crests with scrolls and heraldic symbols like most professional European football teams, I hate the modern, sharp edged crests of modern NFL and rugby league (for any Aussies) teams.

We are called the magpies and wear black and white stripes, we were named after two professional teams: Newcastle United FC and Collingwood FC (Australian Rules), I love both their crests and would like to incorporate something from either or both of them in our new crest as homage.

    our current crest

    5) Requested size of your logo:

Used to print and embryoid on items of clothing, and on website.

    6) Do you have any images/photos that can be used for the logo?

Attatched is my attempt at a new crest, I did in the super old school version of ‘office paint’…. It needs A LOT of work, but I am really keen on the half background white, half black theme, with apposing colours.

    7) What logo styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)?
    Text and image

    8) What colors do you want to see in your logo?
black, white and gold trimming (possibly a little bit of silver, red or blue)

    9) What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo?
    all others

    10) Describe the target audience for your logo
we are both a seniors and juniors club, so should be classy while still striking enough to catch kids attention…I hope that’s possible

    11) What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?
    class, excellence, quality

    12) Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?
Used to print and embryoid on items of clothing, and on website.

    13) Do you have other info or links you want to share?

I would really like to keep some aspect of the current crest. I have 2 ideas:

    1. Keep the image of the magpie and the ball, but put it in the Collingwood crest (without the flags)…it would also need to be round instead of oval.

    2. Have a totally new image of the magpie and ball (hopefully something heraldic… such as what I attempted to do) but leave it in a three-pronged crest similar to the current crest.

Weston; Please delete your pic, I have re-sized it and pasted below for you.

Click on edit post, go advanced, manage attachments and then delete the picture (just to help)

Then all can use the one below for an example

    Hey Weston,
That's a pretty good attempt considering it was done in Paint!

Myself, (being originally from NSW), thought the magpies were the old western suburbs?
But then, when it comes to sports I know pretty well zilch. :)
I can make a crest for you though.

    Give me a few days

Thought I would give this a go, slightly different Magpie. But I'm sure CP will come up with the right 1....

    Top job guys!
I'll leave my (not even started yet) contribution of this request 'as is' for now, as I'm sure Weston will be stoked with both of your results.

Yeah Modman, what Dave said. :D

Okay here's my try. I'm not a fan of maggies at the moment, nesting time and they're in attack mode!

Here is why you can't find them and yours are nesting -
MAGPIE (jay): In Celtic lore, the magpie was a bird associated with fairy revels; in Scandinavia, magpies were said to be sorcerers flying to unholy gatherings, and yet the nesting magpie was once considered a sign of luck in those countries. In Old Norse myth, Skadi (the daughter of a giant) was priestess of the magpie clan. In England, the sighting of magpies is still considered a good omen.

I just love that Google but miss my old encyclopedia.

Guys they both look great, I would also love to see what covertpea comes up with.

I love the ball from ishkey, I really like both shield shapes but think I like the one Forest used better. Forest is it porrible to make the gold border a more 'solid' colour (see the colour of the reef from the collinwood crest above? I have no idea how hard any of this is with the programs you are using all i know is it is near impossible on 'paint' :). Also the other thing I should have mentioned is, one of the things I dislike most about our current crest is the head of the magpie, as I don't really know what it looksa like but it's not a magpies head. (they have a black head, white beak, and white back of the neck). Now stop me if this is way to tough, but how hard is it to reproduce the Collingwood shield (without the magpie or the flags..and with different text)?
My ultimate vision is reproducing the Collingwood crest, with the image I designind in the centre, I do however realise that this is probably to hard (and more importantly too time consuming) for you guys.

Yes weston no matter which program used making a graphic is time consuming that's why we ask everyone to try and give back to the forum with as much as we put into the graphics. A small price to pay as they say.

Attached is a zip of the ball in png and eps if anyone wants to use it.

Wow, CP looks fantastic! is it possible to make the gold less yellow? Also it's Weston creek :) Is it possible to make the WCFC up the top just say Weston Creek, and then the scroll say Football club?

May I ask what programs you guys mainly use for designing, and are they able to be downloaded?
