Although embracing the beautifully socialistic nature of this forum, I thought I would post my little conundrum for you all to muse over. Just to give you a background, I live in Perth WA and we have just started a football team that is promising to take off in reasonably big way (i.e. we already have 30 odd players on our books and have aspirations to grow the club.

However, this is our first season and we have yet to agree on a football badge, the details are these ...

    1) What is the exact name you would like in your logo?
The name of the team is Perth Celtic Football Club (ESTABLISHED 2011).

    2) What is your website address (ex: http:/site .com/; Site Name)?
There is no website at the moment, but this is another thing we will need to remedy. The badge is the major starting point though.

    3) Description of your website or business:
Perth Celtic has its roots in the Irish Scots diaspora of Western Australia and would have the usual symbolism that that idea invokes (i.e. Shamrocks, Celtic Crosses, etc). However, it is important to state that this is an Australian football (soccer) club.

    4) Search the Internet for any logos/designs on the web that you feel convey
the style you are looking for?
I think we are all agree at the club that the logo should have a Southern Cross (see Australian or New Zealand flag) somewhere in the design ...

Ideally we would like to use the Glasgow Celtic border as a template, although this is not a necessity ...

    [IMG][/URL]

It would be excellent if someone could come up with a modern design that would incorporate Shamrocks and the Southern Cross though.

    5) Requested size of your logo:
It will be printed on posters, shirts and a whole heap of merchandise from bags to water bottles, jackets and caps (of which we will make sure to send some in way of thanks).

    6) Do you have any images/photos that can be used for the logo? (must be copyright free)

This is the hardest part really. I have tried to put together something before we decided that the badge should have an Australian theme ...

I like the Shamrock, but I think in order to truly explore the Southern Cross idea, they would have to be smaller; there would have to be more than one and perhaps artistically intertwined with the constellation. I reckon at this stage I am not making sense (lol). If you have more questions let me know.

    7) What logo styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)?
There are a few designs I personally like. Apart from the Celtic one above, there is this ...

Quite a modern style, which I would think would fit in with the sort of vibe we would be looking for also.

    8) What colors do you want to see in your logo?
The club's colours are green, white, gold and black.

    9) What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo?
    Blue or red. :)

    10) Describe the target audience for your logo
Football people, as said in question three; their is a strong Irish Scots identity at the club, so we want to stay as close to that as possible without stifling your creativity of course.

    11) What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?
It has to be simple, cool, catchy (easily identifiable) and easy to reproduce.

    12) Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?
As discussed, it's primarily for the club football tops, but will also be used on various other items, including - eventually - a website.

    13) Do you have other info or links you want to share?
    N/A

    14) Finally we need is there a style font you prefer, please let us know.
We are not really font savvy, but it would have to have a clear and contemporary look. If I need to be more precise, please let me know.

Any help you can provide us would be much appreciated; I really hope one or more of you can help.

    Cheers in advance!

Modman, I DO like the look of that!

Upon reading through Heyzeus' request, I though of shamrocks layed out in the southern cross pattern. I like your idea better though.

I have half a day off tomorrow so I'll see if I can come up with an idea as well.

    oh yeah...
I dunno what a bluenose is

I'm from Scottish stock. My maiden name was McRae.
From what I recall when listening to Grandpa talk about his rellies, it sounded like there was quite a few nutters amongst them.

Surely that couldn't be true!?? :p

For a Rangers man that isn't bad at all (lol). I will be putting all attempts to the committee and I reckon this one will be well received. Would you wear a Perth Celtic t-shirt Modman (lol)?

That would be fantastic if you can give it a go. Just remember you basically have free reign to get creative. Just as an aside, the WA emblem is the Black Swan ...

If someone could put a modern slant on Celtic's original badge that might be interesting too ...

I have belief in your unbounded talents guys. Cheers for helping us out.

p.s. Bluenose is Glasgow Rangers fan. :)

Where can I find some reference to that original badge?

Hey Forest, I'm no nutter, I'm just a tad off balance. How rude!
(and don't expect me to post pics of my latest selection of string off-cuts) :p

Do you mean reference as in graphics for it? I actually had a wee look and I couldn't find any electronic version of the original. I reckon a cleaner, sharper take on it with the club colours (minus the red:perhaps replaced with gold) would look pretty funky though.
