These days content is king. Our buddy Googlebot likes to scan the content on your website to determine how relevant your website is in relation to keywords people type in the search box. What you place in your header tags (i.e. <h1> <h2> <h3>) and the text on your site which are actually links are highly relevant. So, give Googlebot some bread crumbs. When optimizing your website for search engines, think about what people would type in Google's search box to find your website and try incorporating those phrases in your headers and links. Of course, you should always write your page for people, not search engines. After all, who cares if you get the #1 position on Google or Yahoo if your website never converts to sales. So write for people, but if you can write for both Google and people, that's a win-win situation for you. Now for those keywords in your <meta> tags, go ahead and through them in there, it never hurts. But these days, they aren't really relevant.
