    Hi :)

Just thought that in the 'request a logo customization' you say that we do it for free if they request it on that section but you should also state that the designers should atleast get something back wheather it being a link back to their site or anything because people don't mind doing it for free but sometimes because of their time that they use behind the work they should get something back in return from whoever requests anything..this should go to any other part of the forum aswell I think..just a thought :)

Sorry GG but I gotta disagree with you on this.

This lousy internet is riddled with offers of 'free' this and 'free' that and RARELY is there ever not a catch of some sort attached to those offers.

I don't even class those supposed 'free' website templates members share throughout the forums as free (NOT INCLUDING FWT's WEBSITES) as there's that 'catch' of having to leave someone's name intact on the footer.

I'm proud to offer my services here at FWT where FREE ACTUALLY MEANS FREE!
Freewebsitetemplates.com is unique in that respect and I believe that to be the main reason it has such an excellent reputation.

As the old saying goes..."If it aint broke don't fix it!" ;)

Yeah i understand don't worry I don't wanna mess that up..i don't mind doing it for free on here it was just a thought :) but yeah that's probably the main reason for the reputation on here :)

I agree with both of you in a way, but I am studying to be a software designer/coder.

I, personally, have no problem with including credits in software or webpages or art, for the person or people that took the time to create the piece of work for me. It's only fair that, if I get a free website template, which comercially could cost thousands of dollars, that the designer get something as small as a "Designed by: X" link, with a link to their information or website.

I do agree that requiring that, however, would put me off of using the template, depending on how the request to have the credits included was worded.

I love doing it free for now. One day i wish to get paid. And i have been paid before for work but sometimes i will add my signature and copyright it and clearly state "IF YOU TAKE MY WORK I WILL SUE". Just as i would never use another's work, i dont want others using mine behind my back.

lol i know what you mean even if they offered a service back if they can or something then it'll atleast make the designers feel that they appreciate it because a lot of time goes in to the graphics that are made and it's just not the graphic section it's the programming and other parts but some not to mention some people do give back

Sorry to re-visit this but had a further thought/ suggestion

I'm in total agreement with CP (free should mean free) but the rating system could do with a make over

(please bare with me) It is always nice for feed back for the designers / people who contribute to a thread, so would it be possible that within each post, the names in the thread appear with a rating next to them and can be rated by anyone who views., I find the current rating system is over looked 98% of the time and is hard to follow.

This in itself may give the designers that little ego boost and a good or bad way of feed back.

Only an idea, as seen it on a forum else where but for the life of me cant remember where (will keep looking)

We will have a new reputation base system and much better compensation/credits system soon.

I'm just happy as long as I get to practice graphic designing and helping other people. It's fun :)

I thought it was cool that people offer to help out for free here.

I have a request for a logo, not really sure what to expect, sometimes its "you get what you pay for" and sometimes you have people that go above and beyond to help out.

coming from my point of view though (a visitor looking for work). I wouldnt mind crediting the creation to the artist at all. wether it be through a link on our site, or a "logo created by" such and such on our webpage. But I asked for a band logo...that would be different than say, a business..I doubt many businesses would want to give recognition o thier official professional business site, likely wanting to keep the focus on themselves..

then again thats all opinion...and im rambling again!
If I end up sticking around you gotta get used to the rambling!!

    Kapwa05 -

Good on you for wanting to give it a go mate!
No one will be laughing, we all started out offering fairly average looking graphic designs.

Studying well-known logo brands/crests or breaking down the layout/styles process that many 'pros' use in putting their designs together is a great way to improve your own work.
    Practice, practice and more practice!
It's all very easy to duplicate another designers work but the real trick is to, eventually, come up with your own individual style.

    Cheers
    CP

It's great you guys are happy to make them for free with no catches etc. But if I asked for a site template from somewhere for free I'd probably tell the designer they could link back or insert their site somewhere.

It's a nice thing to offer, especially if it's for free, knowing that other people will be able to notice your work and make more offers etc.

Reputation isnt a very good credit system IMO. Its like barely noticeable, it doesn't say anywhere how much you have. And the rep button itself isn't very noticeable.

I think we should have some kind of meters next your usernames displaying how much you have.

Agreed, rep counts aren't that great and not many people bother about them, I've usually went by a persons post count to be honest, unless I'm a regular member of a forum and I know most people.

A sort of "health bar" next to the usernames sounds not bad, but it would work the same as a rep count really? Though at least it would be noticeable.

How about to the left of the "Quote" button we have a "Give Credits" button?

You've got some good ideas here guys.
I'm guessing that Mimoun will be taking them into account whilst he's redesigning our "new & improved" FWT site.

Yeah, FWT's reputation speaks for itself. I'm kind of regreting that I've not registered earlier. I guess it's because of my
    stubbornness.
