CSS New to CSS, need help with images

I downloaded one of the free templates for our guilds new Guildportal site. I have entered the style sheet into the CSS on my site and I'm having trouble with the images showing up.

Where is says background: url(images/elf-bg.jpg), I've entered in the url where I uploaded the images to in place of the images/elf-bg.jpg. When I view my site its showing the correct stlyes.. but none of the images. I even tried uploading the files to our site and using that link instead. Same thing.

This IS my first time using a CSS so I'm probably doing something wrong. But I've read all the tutorials on it and I'm just not seeing whats wrong here. I even used a test CSS site with the url of my images and they show up just fine.
