I would be extremely happy if my site found in the first page, even for the second page for the matter. Your site's ranking on "free tutorials" is 4. Are you doing anything to improve it?

Yes I will improve it. It swaps position on page 1 regularly
It will change but now have higher priorities

Have you done any of the suggestions I pm you. If so did they help. It usually takes about a week or two to see the results.
After obtaining the expected results, you can direct others how to do it. This will give you a good tutorial or instructions to add to your 'how to build a website' as a follow up.

Also you should SEO (search engine optimization) each individual page
Many of my individual pages have position because of this
Also many visitors do not go thru my index page for the same reason
Individual pages have position on Google.
If you don't constantly work on maintaining them (because of the competition) they will slowly loose position.
Remember, position is not page rank. You need page rank if you want to sell your site. Position for traffic and conversions ($$$).

Keywords are not used individually, but in groups
Example: 'calculating algebra problems'
I am Google page 1 #7
before doing further optimization, I need to research what keyword group I want to optimize for (in other words, what words would people use to find my page). These keyword groups are important. Never use single words, they have too much competition.
Try to use plausible word groups (what people might use). Try different ones and see your position change (sometimes improvement, sometimes loss). Keep trying until you get acceptable gains.
Always make small changes. Better to make several small changes than one big one. Each change counts as new content.
